Orthokeratology in Doral, FL

What Is Orthokeratology?

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) uses special rigid lenses worn while you sleep to temporarily reshape the cornea.

When you remove them in the morning, the cornea holds that shape for a while, which may let you see without lenses during the day.

How Does It Work?

The lens applies gentle, controlled pressure to the cornea during sleep. The change is temporary: if you stop wearing the lens, the cornea gradually returns to its previous shape.

Lenses Worn While You Sleep

They're inserted before bed and removed after waking up. Daily cleaning and care are essential for eye health.

Temporary Changes in Corneal Shape

The effect depends on regular lens wear. That's why it isn't considered a permanent correction.

Who May Be Evaluated?

Children, teens or adults with myopia who want to consider an alternative to daytime glasses or contacts. Whether it's appropriate always depends on an evaluation of the cornea and ocular surface.

Orthokeratology and Myopia Control

Orthokeratology is one of the options that may be considered for childhood myopia control. Whether it's right for a child is decided during an exam.
